Phonemic Awareness

What is it?

The ability to identify, access, and distinguish sounds within words. In our Junior Level 1 programme, we place emphasis on initial sounds.

Why is it Important?

Phonemic awareness is a strong predictor of reading success. In our Junior Level 1 programme, LCentral's educators give explicit instruction in phonemic awareness to help your child fast track the reading process. This gives him/her an edge over his/her peers. Children with strong phonemic awareness develop into better and faster readers.

Oral Communication

(Listening and Speaking Skills)

What is it?

The ability to understand (listening) and use (speaking) a range of words and sentence structures to facilitate meaningful communication.

Why is it Important?

Children who begin school with a broad vocabulary are more likely to learn additional words quickly, compared to their peers with limited vocabulary. Building vocabulary accelerates your child's comprehension and communication skills, preparing him/her for academic excellence even before commencing formal education.
